The studio Two things, and nothing else What we fund Robot hardware, and the infrastructure to use robots. Not applications, not integrators, not consultancies with a demo. The two layers where a durable position is still available. § 01What a company receives on day one Building these four in-house is roughly eighteen months of work that produces no product. A company formed here starts with them. 01A charterDeclared standing responsibilities, approval thresholds where a mistake would hurt, and a named accountable human — conformant against the published AAO suite from the first commit.Condition 05 02An identity layerScoped, revocable authority for every machine and every agent, that can only ever attenuate from the grant above it.Condition 03 03A settlement railMachine-to-machine value transfer with a sealed record, so a robot can be a party to a transaction rather than a cost line.Condition 04 04Fleet governanceThe operating layer that lets one team run many machines, and the directory record that lets other organisations find and transact with the company.Condition 06 Four of the six conditions, supplied rather than built. The other two — embodiment and autonomy — are what the company is actually for. Infrastructure is provided by flashyID, Flashy Gold and FlashyOS. The charter format and its conformance suite are published under the Apache License 2.0, so a portfolio company can implement them without asking and take them with it. § 02What it gives up Stated plainly, because it should be A meaningful equity position, retained by the studio at formation. The argument for it is the list above: a company that receives four of six conditions on day one is a materially different company from one that must build them, and the terms should reflect that or the studio is not earning them. If a founder does not think the exchange is worth it, it is not. That judgement is theirs and it is the right test of whether this studio should exist.
